ESTABLISHMENT OF THE VETERANS ASSOCIATION
UN PEACEKEEPING MISSION TO CAMBODIA 1992 - 1993
INTRODUCTION
The Association of Veterans of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 is a unique community whose roots go back to that extraordinary period when the Polish military participated in the UN peacekeeping mission in remote Cambodia. It is a voluntary, self-governing and non-profit association that has been given legal personality to continue its mission in the spirit of community and service.
The association draws strength from its independence, allowing it to define its own objectives, programmes of action and organisational structures. However, although it operates autonomously, one of its main tasks is to represent the collective interests of its members both before public authorities and on issues of public importance.
It is noteworthy that the Association bases its activities on the community work of its members, reflecting the spirit of service that was present among the peacekeepers in Cambodia. This social commitment is the strength of this organisation.
The association was founded by Polish citizens who not only possessed full legal capacity, but were also united by their passion and dedication to peace service. They crossed the threshold of the seven founders, who jointly enacted the statutes and elected the founding committee and subsequently elected the association's authorities and laid the foundations of this community.
It is also important to emphasise that the Association of Veterans of the United Nations Peace Mission in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 is a place where both adults and young people between the ages of 16 and 18, who have limited legal capacity, find their place. This is testament to the openness and desire to continue the values of the UN Mission in Cambodia.
The Association does not impose participation in its ranks on anyone, and the right to withdraw from the Association is always guaranteed. No one is subjected to negative consequences because of their membership or non-membership of the Association. It is a place where peacekeepers under the blue flag can continue their mission and together cherish the memory of those special moments and cultivate the traditions of the Polish Army.
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE VETERANS ASSOCIATION
UN PEACEKEEPING MISSION TO CAMBODIA 1992 - 1993
The first discussions probing the possibility of establishing a social organisation of UN peacekeepers in Cambodia were held by a group of peacekeepers from the former 4th Logistics Support Company from Siem Reap in autumn 2017 in ŻAROW near STARGARD. At the veterans' meeting held on 19 - 21.10.2017 in Zarow near Stargard, the initiative found recognition and support among veterans.
The acceleration of the conceptual work in the winter of 2017 resulted in the first concrete organisational steps being taken. Initiative Group organised composed of:

Further organisational and conceptual work led to the organisation, thanks to Mirosław ŁAJDYCH, Ryszard POGRZEBSKI, Czesław SZYMKÓW, Piotr BĘBENEK and Jacek TREMBECKI, of a meeting of veterans of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cambodia from 13 - 15.04.2018 in Szklarska Poreba - Hotel OLIMP. A total of 112 people attended the meeting of veterans and their families.
The Founding Assembly of the Association of Veterans of the Polish Military Contingent of the United Nations Interim Administration in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 - "Zabujani in Cambodia" was joined by 36 veterans of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cambodia and one family member of a veteran on 14 April 2018 at the OLIMP Hotel:

At the Founding Assembly of the Association of Veterans of the Polish Military Contingent of the United Nations Interim Administration in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 - "Zabujani in Cambodia", the "Programme and main directions of the Association's activities - STATUTES OF ASSOCIATION" were adopted, which became the basis for further activity of the Board and formation of the Association.

In conclusion, it is important to recognise that the initial period in organising the Association, involving the hard work of the founding members, supporters of the Association laid a good foundation for full success.

MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF VETERANS OF THE UN PEACE MISSION IN CAMBODIA 1992 - 1993
As of 20.07.2019, there has been a replacement of the Membership Passes. The numbering of the Identity Cards will be changed. On the ID Card the number , first name , surname and pesel will be in gold instead of yellow. There will also be a UNTAC hologram in the lower right-hand corner.

On 09.10.2019, at the meeting of the Board of Directors, Decision No.38 / 2019 was taken on the establishment of the Association Medal and the naming of the Medal.
Name of the Association's Medal - STAR OF CAMBODIA.
The medal will be awarded by a chapter approved by the board. The medal will be in 3 categories; bronze, silver and gold, they will be differentiated by the plaques with the UNTAC inscription on the ribbon.
On 24.10.2019, the Chapter for the awarding of the STAR OF CAMBODIA medal was constituted.

At the meeting of the Board of Directors No.1 / 2021 on 04.02.2021, the Board of Directors adopted Decision No. 4 / 2021 in which it appointed the functions:
Spokesperson for the Association of Veterans of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 and Legal Adviser for the Association of Veterans of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cambodia 1992 - 1993 Janusz ŻWAŃSKI accepted the offer and has been acting as the Association's Press Officer since 05.02.2021.
